Hand Therapy is a type of rehabilitation performed by an Occupational or Physical Therapist for patients who suffer from conditions affecting the hands and upper extremities.
You may be a candidate for hand therapy if you’ve been affected by an accident or trauma leaving you with wounds, scars, burns, injured tendons or nerves, fractures, or amputations of the fingers, hands or arms. If you suffer from carpal tunnel syndrome, tennis elbow, or other chronic problems such as arthritis or a neurologic condition (i.e. stroke) hand therapy may be of great benefit to you.
One of our Hand Therapists will complete a full assessment of your hand and arm to determine the best course of treatment. You will be guided through exercises to improve mobility, lessen pain, and heal soft tissue. Custom splints or orthotics may be necessary to aide you in your road to recovery. Bainbridge Island Physical Therapy is proud to have the only practicing Hand Therapists on the Island and we look forward to helping you live your most full life.
