Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT)
University of Utah, 2015

Garett joined the Navy in 2004 and was stationed onboard the USS John C. Stennis for the majority of his 6.5 years of active duty. While in the Navy, he specialized in electrical power generation and distribution as a member of the Reactor Electrical Division. After leaving active duty he accepted a commission in the Army National Guard. He took a position as a physical therapist with the 19th Special Forces Group Support (Airborne). While at the 19th GSB he has had the opportunity to train with Special Forces physical therapists around the country. The Special Forces utilizes a training philosophy termed THOR3, which stands for Tactical Human Optimization, Rapid Rehabilitation and Reconditioning. This program is a full-spectrum approach to patient care, centered on the warrior athletes that make up the Army Special Forces. The THOR3 principles focus on optimizing efficiency of movement while maintaining strength, flexibility and endurance. It also encompasses preventative injury strategies and aggressive recovery and reconditioning techniques to maximize the individual soldier’s mission readiness. Garett has been trained in wound management by a veteran clinician with over 12 years as a Certified Wound care Specialist.

Garett loves working with children and has over 8 weeks of hands on training at a pediatric specialty clinic. While at this pediatric clinic he successfully treated patients ranging in age from 2 months to 18 years and saw a wide variety of both musculoskeletal and neurological diagnosis. Additionally Garett has worked with a Certified Sports Specialist trained therapist and has experience with sports injury, return to sport therapy and preventative care including screening for injury risk factors.

Garett believes that physical therapy is an integral piece of the whole person medical picture for your preventative and rehabilitative care. He will work with you and your physician, chiropractor, dietician, naturopath, personal trainer, etc. to ensure you receive the best physical therapy care possible. He will partner with you to customize a treatment protocol that fits your goals and desired outcomes. Garett will work just as hard to help you prevent injury as he will to help you recover and recondition after an injury.

In 2006 Garett met a young lady from Bainbridge Island named Rachel. They got married and now have two handsome and strapping young boys, Tagg and Shaw. As a family they enjoy spending time outdoors and playing with the family dogs, Fawkes and Moody (Yes, they are fans of Harry Potter). Garett enjoys playing many sports but his favorite is rugby. He loves going to the shooting range and most mornings you will find him at the gym lifting weights.
