Lynn has more than 40 years of experience in physical therapy and has extensive experience with chronic pain patients. Lynn supervised and led classes in a chronic pain unit. She has written articles on pain management and aerobics, directed and written educational videos on body mechanics; and set up stroke programs. While at the Swedish Hospital Pain Unit, Lynn received a grant to study chronic pain and its effect on sleep. The results of this study were presented at the World Pain Association meeting in Seattle. Lynn has performed Physical Capacity Evaluations (PCE tests) and set up work hardening programs. She served two years with the Peace Corps in Turkey where she taught the first graduating class of physical therapists from Haccetepe Hospital, Ankara. This experience prepared Lynn for working at Harlem Hospital during the riots of 1966-67.

As a result of working with chronic pain patients in many settings, Lynn feels strongly about teaching techniques that empower a person to take responsibility for their condition. “No pain, no gain” is not a philosophy in her approach to helping people. Lynn understands that pain is a complex matter, and that it is a major component of a patient’s problem. To that end, she incorporates her experience in pain reduction using acupuncture and meridian theories as an integral part of treatment plans.

Bainbridge Island Physical Therapy focuses on treating the source of the patient’s problem. Patient education and involvement are hallmarks of our treatment philosophy. We strive to help make the rehabilitation process a pleasure by offering a comfortable and relaxed setting with open channels of communication with your physician.

Lynn has solo backpacked in the Olympics for years and finds solace in the outdoors. She is an avid gardener and loves to mold large rocks and boulders out of concrete for her gardens. She has run in two marathons, snorkeled, and played soccer joyfully. Lynn raised two children, and loves time with her grandchildren, chickens and dogs.
